Capenergies supports cooperation between cities and businesses through the Esmartcity European project
Thanks to the Esmartcity project, 9 pilot sites have been deployed in order to test energy efficiency solutions in the Mediterranean area. Targeted initiatives are also led in order to bring smart energy companies together with local authorities in the Région SUD. Focus on this visionary project.
Esmartcity promoted at the Smart City Expo World Congress
The Smart City Expo World Congress is THE major international event for smart cities. From the 19th to the 21th of November 2019 in Barcelona, it gathered more than 24000 visitors, 1000 exhibitors, 700 municipalities, 400 speakers and 140 countries.
Five project partners joined Capenergies for this event: the Abruzzo region, the Athena Research Center, the Granada Energy Agency, the INSA Lyon and the Region of Western Greece. It allowed promoting the project towards numerous participants, businesses and public authorities. In particular, the Esmartcity representatives closely exchanged views with 60 persons (16 of which were local communities) in order to share their experiences and consider opportunities for future collaboration. In addition, they will send them the Esmartcity Green Paper for Innovation Policy Change. This strategic document will gather their recommendations on energy efficiency in public building, smart urban lighting and open data management, including the results of pilot tests. It will be published in the first quarter of 2020 and will be presented at the Esmartcity closing conference that will be organized by Capenergies in the Région Sud in summer 2020. Save the date!
Targeted workshops to create win-win public procurements
On the initiative of Capenergies, two collaborative workshops have been organized for businesses at the end of November 2019: one in Nice, on energy efficiency in public buildings (in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nice Côte d’Azur and the Smart Grids Club 06); another one in Aix-en-Provence, on smart public lighting (in partnership with INSA Lyon).
« Watinyoo is developing integrated solutions to meet cities and territories’ needs, better analyze energy supply and improve its management. Capenergies and the Esmartcity project fully supports the necessary dialogue between public authorities and businesses in order to place innovative solutions on the market », says M. Ménargues, president and co-founder of Watinyoo.
These workshops allowed the participants to share their experiences on common challenges and to think differently on the way they answer to calls for tenders. The workshops’ results will be presented to local authorities during another event that will take place in spring 2020: it will give them the keys to understand commercial offers and to match it with their needs. This provides ideal conditions to favor the deployment of smart city solutions.
The Esmartcity project will conclude with a closing conference that might gather public and private actors during open innovation workshops and B2B meetings.
