RECYCLING RECALCITRANT BIOMASS USING 'BIO-INSPIRED' COPPER COMPLEXES

This purpose of this project is to study the conditions under which recalcitrant lignocellulosic biomass deteriorates using synthetic catalysts 'bio-inspired' by fungal and bacterial metalloenzymes. The final objective is to be able to produce advanced biofuels and biomaterials.
The project will need to develop bio-mimic catalysts that can oxidise polysacchrides efficiently, which will be assessed using various techniques calling on chemistry, biology and biotechnology.
