IMPROVING FUSION WELDING PROCESSES AND INSPECTION OF ASSEMBLED PARTS

The aim of this project is to better check and detect any defects formed during arc welding through the use of virtual materials. It is based on the in situ monitoring of grain growth and hot-cracking during welding. The grain structures and their defects are then modelled using a multi-physics and multi-scale approach. Industrial steels will be used to validate this approach within the scope of studies on welded parts for the nuclear and automotive sectors.
