NEWCAT

NEW CATALYST FOR PHOTOELECTROLYSIS, ELECTROLYSIS AND PHOTOCATALYSIS

The NewCat project is focusing on the development of a new catalyst designed to ensure the photo-oxidation of water.
This catalyst is composed of a new alloy that is deposited on a silicon plate using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) process. It shows very promising electrochemical performance levels and could provide as an alternative to the photo-electrodes that are currently used.

Managing and optimising the performance of the manufacturing process in question - soon the subject of a PhD - are key aspects in developing industrial applications to support several methods of hydrogen production (electrolysis and photoelectrolysis).
