PIEZOELECTRIC GENERATORS TO HARVEST GREEN ENERGY FROM SLOW-MOVING WATER

This project is focusing on the design, construction and integration of a 50 kW piezoelectric generator (Power Take-Off) for the low hydropower market which differs to the conventional hydropower sector by the fact that it exploits slow-moving water (very low heads). The project includes a trial phase in an operational environment on a test site made available by the Canal de Provence company. The concept will be validated with a 1 kW generator and a demonstrator project at sea. The goal is to increase the power production efficiency of small hydroelectric power plants with very low heads.
