SIMULATIONS WITH HIGH-ORDER SCHEMES OF TRANSPORT AND TURBULENCE IN TOKAMAK PLASMAS

The management and removal of heat is a crucial issue for the ITER nuclear fusion project. Numerical modelling is an essential tool for simulating the thermonuclear plasma performance on a reactor scale and to guarantee that its plasma-facing wall components will resist such conditions.

The SISTEM project is developing a new generation of algorithms based on a hierarchy of models of varying complexities, as well as innovative numerical methods to improve predictive modelling under operational conditions in ITER.
