STEPSol R&D

DEVELOPMENT OF A TOOL FOR MODELLING, DESIGNING AND CONTROLLING THE POWER OF A SOLAR ‘MICROSTEP’ SYSTEM CONNECTED TO THE GRID

This R&D project falls within the scope of the design and development of solar micro-STEP* systems (<1 MW) in Corsica next to watercourses. They must be reproducible, marketable, of an acceptable size for the environment and available land, and they must exploit locally available skills. For this reason, the STEPSol R&D project is focusing on the development of design and control software for such micro-STEPs*.  There are two issues to resolve for this R&D phase, i.e. developing a system so it is possible to continue deploying PV in Corsica by resolving solar intermittency, and improving the economic effectiveness of these systems.

STEP*: French acronym for pumped-storage power station
