VIBRATIONAL PROBES FOR EXPLORING REDOX ENZYMES

Redox enzymes are extremely effective biocatalysts for converting a multitude of substrates, from the dihydrogen molecule (H2) to larger polymeric molecules (cellulose), with high affinity.

The aim of the project is to understand the catalytic mechanism of redox enzymes, which is a major component of bioenergetic processes, to control their reactivity and to create bio-inspired catalysts. This very early R&D project is based on an innovative spectroelectrochemical methodology for characterising these mechanisms under the least restrictive conditions possible in situ & in operando.
