On 24 July 2024, the International Olympic Committee awarded the organisation of the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to the French Alps.
Like the 2024 Summer Games, hosting the 2030 Winter Games will be an opportunity to accelerate the economic, social and environmental development of the region, particularly the Southern Alps, and to ensure that its positive impacts are part of the continuity of the public policies implemented by the Sud-Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region since 2017 in favour of its valleys and mountains.

The aim is to capitalise on the region's technological know-how, by harnessing the skills and innovations developed by economic and industrial players in the South of France.
AMI N°1 - TRANSPORT led by Capenergies
2 types of technological solutions are being sought:
- Technologies with a very high level of maturity (TRL ≥ 8) that can be integrated directly into the organisation of the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. These solutions will have to be operational and ready to use to make a real contribution to the smooth running of the Games, but they will also have to be robust, tried and tested, and adaptable to the specific constraints of the mountain environment;
- Technologies at an intermediate level of maturity (TRL 6/7) Although not yet fully deployed on a large scale, these solutions should enable visible experimentation during the event, particularly during highlights such as the opening ceremony.
Solutions must meet the following requirements:
- Transport of people or goods aimed at developing low-carbon means of mobility
- Innovations likely to be implemented in time for the 2030 Olympic Games
- Adaptability to the constraints of mountain areas (e.g. climatic conditions, topography and accessibility)
- Ability to promote short circuits, the circular economy and the local value chain.
