Newsletter CONCERTO RENOV #5 : The latest on energy-efficient home renovation!

Dear Readers,

Here is the latest newsletter from the European CONCERTO RENOV project, co-funded by the European Commission's LIFE programme. Find out about the key advances made by CONCERTO RENOV in the light of recent news from the energy renovation sector. Enjoy your reading!

CONCERTO RENOV: the wave of renovation is underway in the regions!

Since the launch of the CONCERTO RENOV platform in September 2024, SOLIHA Landes and SOLIHA Jura Saône et Loire have already created 527 renovation files, i.e. 45 % of the final target (1,183 files). Of these, 318 projects (27 % of the target) have been activated with homeowners. With an increase of more than 100 % in renovation projects since December 2024, this momentum is in line with expectations, 15 months ahead of the September 2026 deadline.

Focus on renovation projects: meeting requirements

In the JuraThe majority of applications concern households on modest to very modest incomes, often living in poverty. energy insecurity. The work, costing an average of €69,000, will enable a an energy leap of at least three classes and combine renewable energies (wood or pellet boilers, air-water heat pumps), insulation work, replacement of woodwork, installation of thermodynamic water heaters and appropriate ventilation. The average outlay for households is €19,200.

In the LandesThe files also target low-income householdsbut less often in fuel poverty. The homes treated, which are often classified as F or better, benefit from major renovations (skip at least two classes). The work mainly involves installing air-to-air or air-to-water heat pumps and thermodynamic water heaters, insulating walls, lower floors and attics, replacing joinery and improving ventilation. The average cost of the work is €45,715, with an average grant of €32,800, making the more affordable out-of-pocket expenses.

Although a momentary slowdown in this dynamic is to be expected in view of the news presented below in this newsletter, we are looking forward to the finalisation of the first projects supported by CONCERTO RENOV very soon!

Interview with Charlotte GATT

Programme Manager for Sonergia, coordinator of the European CONCERTO RENOV project

What is your role as coordinator of the European CONCERTO RENOV project?

"My main task is to ensure that the project is implemented properly, both in terms of keeping to the timetable and budget and the quality of the deliverables expected by the European Commission. Our central role is to orchestrate collaboration between all the members of the consortium, to ensure smooth communication and to promote the project to national and local institutions. This visibility is essential to ensure the success and encourage the replicability of the initiative.. "

What is the aim of the CONCERTO RENOV project?

"Our ambition is clear: to make it easier and quicker for householders to take the plunge and carry out comprehensive, high-performance renovations. We want to break down the barriers by offering an integrated approach that brings together all the players in the energy renovation value chain on a single platform. The aim is to support households from the initial diagnosis right through to monitoring energy savings after the work has been completed, to ensure a simplified and secure process. This approach is fully in line with the national strategy for energy renovation, supported by the Building Renovation Plan and the European objectives of the Green Deal.

The CONCERTO RENOV platform includes the CONCERTO tool created prior to the project. What does it bring to the platform?

Developed by Sonergia in partnership with the CSTB, the Concerto tool makes it possible to draw up personalised renovation scenarios tailored to each home. Thanks to this self-diagnosis, which is part of the first stage of the CONCERTO RENOV process, each household can compare renovation options and choose the solution best suited to its needs and budget. The system is based on CSTB recommendations and nationally recognised technical standards.

What does involvement in a European project mean for SONERGIA? Would you recommend other companies to get involved?

"I strongly encourage project developers and businesses to apply for the LIFE programme, the European Union's main financial instrument for the environment and climate. It's a demanding investment, but the themes are rich and always in line with the priorities of the European Green Deal and the decarbonisation of the building sector. On the strength of this experience, Sonergia won two new LIFE programmes this year: AREC and Bail Rénov', which start in 2025.

The year 2024 ended with a revealing paradox. On the one hand, massive public support 3.77 billion paid out by Anah (+21 % compared with 2023) and more than 403,000 homes assisted. On the other, total number of energy renovations falls by 40 % (340,801 compared with 569,243 in 2023), while major renovations on the increase to 91,374, an increase of 27 %. Less volume, but more quality. This gap reflects persistent obstacles: administrative complexity, rising costs and a lack of trained and certified professionals.

MaPrimeRénov' is evolving to provide better support for intermediary households, with aid of up to 80 % in the supported scheme, while certain packages, such as wood energy, have been reduced. The possibility of submitting an application without an EPD for work to be carried out by hand has been extended until the end of 2025, offering greater flexibility.

Temporary suspension of deposits between June and September 2025 is designed to make the scheme more straightforward to manage. This one-off measure is a reminder of the importance of a secure pathway for households and tradespeople. In addition, the ECD remains centralThis will enable us to meet European requirements by stepping up our work management and rental supervision.

On the eve of 2026, the sector needs to combine ambition and pragmatism. To achieve the target of 700,000 renovations per year by 2030, we will need to simplify procedures, strengthen training and better inform households

CONCERTO RENOV remains committed to facilitate the process, support households and encourage efficient, sustainable renovation. In line with Europe's ambitions, we are pursuing our actions, as illustrated by the following examples encouraging initial key figures presented above by the Soliha Federation.

+18 %

is the maximum green value in 2023

According to the 2024 study published by the Notaires de France, based on sales of existing homes in 2023, an energy-efficient home rated A or B on the DPE will sell for up to 18 % more than a comparable home rated D, with regional variations. Conversely, energy wastes (classes F and G) will fetch a discount of up to -15 %.

For householders, investing in energy renovation means not only improving their comfort and reducing their bills, but also enhancing the long-term value of their property.
