Engie and Total have formalised a unique partnership as part of the MassHylia which is planning France's largest renewable hydrogen production site, at Châteauneuf-les-Martigues in the southern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
Located at the heart of Total's La Mède biorefinery and powered by solar farms, the 40 MW electrolyser will produce 5 tonnes of green hydrogen per day to meet the needs of the Total La Mède biorefinery's biofuel production process.
Awarded the Capenergies label in March 2020, Masshylia is the 1ere A large-scale initiative to decarbonise the hydrogen used in industrial processes. It's a project that will provide a framework for the region's entire value chain, and should demonstrate the economic benefits of green hydrogen.
Key figures for the project Solar power plant: 100MW H2 production: 5T/d for the biorefinery CO2 avoided: 15,000 T/year |
