PROJECT TO CREATE A GASEOUS HYDROGEN LOGISTICS STORAGE FACILITY IN A LINED MINED CAVITY AT LAVÉRA
The aim of this project is to create a shared logistics storage facility for gaseous hydrogen, in a mined cavity lined with a metal liner. It will be located near the current LPG storage site operated by Géogaz in Lavéra, at the heart of the Marseille-Fos industrial port basin, which will be a major consumer of carbon-free hydrogen in the future.
This innovative underground hydrogen storage concept has a lower impact on the safety of industrial areas than surface storage, and is an alternative to salt caverns, which are unfortunately few and far between across the country, with great potential for replication.
