INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION OF BIO-SOURCED INSULATION
The ISOWAT Provence project aims to develop an industrial unit for the local manufacture of bio-sourced cellulose wadding insulation using recycled paper and cardboard from selective collection, for the building insulation market.
The project's environmental challenges include a significant reduction in CO2 emissions over the entire life cycle of the insulation material, a reduction in grey energy consumption by a factor of 4, and the use of a process that requires no water.
By meeting local insulation needs, this project is also helping to re-industrialise the region. The 1st unit in the Bouches-du-Rhône region will recycle 8,000 tonnes/year of waste to produce up to 600,000 m/year of insulating surfaces.
