INTELLIGENT PORT SOLUTIONS AND SHORE POWER FOR SHIPS
Improving air quality in the port of Toulon, located in the city centre, is a public health issue for the Toulon metropolitan area, as the terminal welcomes many ferries calling from or to Corsica.
The aim of the "Onshore Power Supply Toulon" project is to reduce pollutant emissions in the port by almost 80 % through :
➥ The installation of 3 high-power (up to 2.5 MW) ship electrification substations powered in part by renewable energies, with the first connection planned for early 2022,
➥ Equipping the entire Corsica Ferries fleet with a connection system, initially on 4 ships that regularly make long calls.
With the aim of electrifying 100 % platforms at the Toulon Côte d'Azur terminal (city centre) by 2023, the project is one of the flagship actions of the "Escales Zéro fumées" plan supported by the Southern Region.
