In light of the decarbonisation targets for maritime transport and the rise of electric boats, marinas are being called upon to accelerate their energy transition. This shift raises numerous questions for marina operators, local authorities, energy suppliers and manufacturers: why electrify marinas now? What infrastructure needs to be put in place to cater for new uses? How can electricity networks be adapted to support the growth of electric boating?
This Mobility Club will provide an overview of the key issues relating to the electrification of marinas, covering:
- The driving forces behind this transition, whether they relate to the environment, regulations or the attractiveness of regions; ;
- Challenges relating to energy infrastructure, from grid connection to charging points, including energy storage and smart management solutions; ;
- Changing patterns of use, with the development of electric boats, shuttles and electrified port services; ;
- Feedback ports and territories that are already undergoing this transformation.
