L'ENVOL DE BE ENERGY: the company inaugurates its 1st battery regeneration plant in a 1,200m2 facility in Avignon

On 19 September 2023, Avignon-based BE ENERGY inaugurated "the 1era battery regeneration plant for all categories of batteries: lead, NiMH for full hybrid and rechargeable batteries. This is a decisive step in its development, based on a cutting-edge R&D strategy.

The BE ENERGY adventure began in 2005 with the discovery of a swedish pulse charger technology optimised and improved for regenerating lead-acid batteries. This research will lead to the award of 3 patents for doubling the life of batteries. A virtuous and competitive re-use process that BE ENERGY will successfully offer in the South of France and then rapidly export to more than 50 countries via turnkey regenerator packs.

In 2020, the company is launching the REGEN PULSEThe aim is to develop new diagnostic and regeneration programmes for nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries, which are mainly used in hybrid cars. " Thanks to funding from the I-Nov competition, this project has resulted in a high-performance processing machine for NiMH batteries in hybrid vehicles. "says Bertrand COSTE - CEO of BE ENERGY.

" The accreditation, the contacts we made with industrialists and the support we received from Capenergies in various quarters gave us our foot in the door when it came to scaling up this R&D project. And that accelerated the industrial development that followed.. "

To meet growing demand from maintenance professionals and vehicle manufacturers, BE ENERGY recently moved into a new 1,200m2 facility in the La Courtine area of Avignon. With around twenty employees working on 14 lines and 3 workstations, the plant is capable of regenerating 60,000 starter batteries a year, 550 traction or stationary batteries, 800 NiMH and self-charging hybrid battery packs and 1,300 lithium battery packs.

A pilot site for the company's expertise, which includes 2 new laboratories. BE ENERGY's teams are already exploring new opportunities for innovation through predictive maintenance, which could make it possible to predict the lifespan of batteries with a view to planning their regeneration or replacement over time.

The future is more than promising for BE ENERGY, which has announced partnerships with major manufacturers in the sector (Volvo, Airbus) and is preparing to raise major funds in 2024 in order to open a 2th site in the Paris region and continue to develop a network of licensed workshops in France and abroad.
