BLUE CAPSULE

INTEGRATION OF THE «HTR GRAPHITE» AND «SODIUM» UNIVERSES»

The Blue Capsule project is developing an innovative nuclear reactor to produce low-carbon industrial heat at very high temperatures (700°C), for use in
plants whose thermal processes still rely on fossil fuels.
It is based on a high-temperature reactor with a graphite moderator, a sodium coolant limiting the use of pumps and a mechanical barrier between TRISO fuel and sodium. This R&D project aims to remove the technical uncertainties associated with the interface between the high-temperature reactor and the sodium circuit.
