The CAPENERGIES competitiveness cluster and the Université des Métiers du Nucléaire sign an agreement to cooperate on skills development in the nuclear industry
1 July 2024 - Hélène BADIA, President of the Université des Métiers du Nucléaire, and Christophe BOURMAUD, President of Capenergies, have signed an agreement to work together to promote jobs and careers in the nuclear industry and to facilitate the recruitment of specialists to meet the needs of companies.
The Université des Métiers du Nucléaire and the Capenergies competitiveness cluster have decided to formalise their collaboration, which was already initiated as part of the OPPEN project (Offre de Professionnalisation Pour les Entreprises du Nucléaire) supported by the Campus d'Excellence des Métiers et des Qualifications - Industrie du Futur Sud and very recently a winner of the AMI Compétences et Métiers d'Avenir France 2030.
The Université des Métiers du Nucléaire and Capenergies are therefore formalising their collaboration through concrete actions in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, to facilitate access to training, ensure that training courses match the needs of companies, and promote opportunities in this sector to young graduates and employees in the course of their careers.
Through the "Semaine des Métiers du Nucléaire" and the meetings of the Club Nucléaire Capenergies, which bring together the entire local ecosystem of the sector, the two partners are promoting a real connection between training and the companies that recruit in the nuclear industry, for a real impact on the skills front in the region and beyond, thus contributing to the energy transition.
Between now and 2033, no fewer than 10,000 to 15,000 people will need to be recruited every year to operate our nuclear power plants and complete the programme to build new reactors.
About Capenergies
The Capenergies cluster facilitates the emergence of innovative projects and supports their financing and development to accelerate the Energy Transition in the regions. It works for the benefit of low-carbon energy sectors and its members based in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Corsica, Guadeloupe and the Principality of Monaco.
The cluster brings together a dynamic network of more than 520 members - major industrial groups, companies, including a majority of SMEs and start-ups, research and training centres, local authorities and financiers - specialising in energy and related uses. It has links with more than 300 partners in France and Europe.
The cluster supports the growth of companies and the development of regional projects, through a range of services and by organising business meetings with public and private contractors. It facilitates the recruitment and upskilling of members' employees, enabling them to access new markets and adapt to the specific challenges of the energy sector.

About the Université des Métiers du Nucléaire
The Université des Métiers du Nucléaire (UMN) was created in April 2021 on the initiative of the French nuclear industry, the Union des Industries et Métiers de la Métallurgie, the Union Française de l'Électricité, France Industrie and Pôle Emploi, with the support of the French government.
Its mission is to build a collective approach at national, regional and local level, by bringing together those involved in the nuclear industry, training and employment in the region in order to :
- Raise the profile of the training on offer, both nationally and in each region, in particular through the Regional Campuses or associations;
- Facilitate, accelerate and industrialise the matching of training provision with the needs of the industry, particularly for key occupations in short supply. Support initiatives that meet priority needs;
- Promoting careers and enhancing the attractiveness of the sector(My Future in Nuclear Energy).
