École centrale de Marseille launches 2 new Specialised Masters, including "Marine Engineering and Offshore Wind Energy" (IMEO) in September 2020

For the start of the 2020 academic year, Ecole Centrale de Marseille is opening 2 new Specialised Masters®, including the MS "Marine Engineering and Offshore Wind Energy" (EOEM) in partnership with SeaTech. Approved by the Capenergies cluster in 2019, this training aims to support the development of the floating wind energy sector in the southern region, by providing industry with highly qualified professionals.

In France, the offshore wind energy market is booming: " Between now and 2024, the government will allocate 1 gigawatt (GW) of additional power each year. "Emmanuel Macron recently reminded us. In the Southern Region, which has the only test site in the Mediterranean dedicated to floating wind turbines, support for the industry is an integral part of the Climate Plan. The region plans to commission around a hundred wind turbines by 2030, enabling it to become the largest source of renewable marine energy in the years to come.

Drawing on the scientific excellence of a leading school of general engineering and the expertise of a school specialising in the maritime sector, the Specialised Master's degree will also enable students to be trained in fields other than offshore wind energy, in particular coastal and port engineering and engineering associated with the operation of other MREs.

For the Programme Directors, Michel Benoit[1] and Olivier Kimmoun[2], " This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to acquire real expertise in marine renewable and/or offshore energy. The IMEO Specialised Masters® is aimed at young graduates wishing to specialise in marine engineering and offshore wind energy, as well as working managers and engineers looking for training or retraining. In addition to the participation of numerous A major part of the programme will be delivered by industry.
