EnerNetMob: a promising experiment in electromobility for urban logistics led by Capenergies in Marseille

After 4 months of experimentation, the Capenergies competitiveness cluster is unveiling the 1st results of the EnerNetMob demonstrator installed on the site of the Marché d'Intérêt National in Marseille: a pilot consisting of a recharging point powered by a photovoltaic shade and dedicated to recharging a refrigerated lorry, which prevented the emission of 1.6 tonnes of C02 between September and December 2021.

Funded by the European Commission's Interreg MED programme, the EnerNetMob project aims to create a Europe-wide network of recharging infrastructures to promote electromobility and transnational cooperation. On 8 April, all the partners will be in Marseille to share the results of the 13 experiments carried out in 12 countries at the project's final conference.

Encouraging initial results
to accelerate the deployment of new infrastructure

151 rounds of 56km on average (up to 105km)

to deliver up to 60 tonnes of fresh produce between April and September 2021

99 charging sessions on the terminal

2,2 MWh of energy supplied

Full truck refuelling in less than 3h30 in average
2.9 MWh of self-consumed solar energy

49% PV-powered truck recharging (80% over a full year)

The EnerNetMob trial conducted by Capenergies in Marseilles is proof of the effectiveness of electric mobility for urban logistics: the truck's battery autonomy is more than sufficient to cover the needs of the round, recharging time is optimised and the driver experience is improved. It is also a collective learning experience for all the partners in the deployment and use of such an infrastructure.

The project will have a number of spin-offs at different levels:

  • MIN des Arnavaux plans to install 10 additional kiosks and draw up a best practice guide for the deployment of electric mobility for the delivery of fresh produce;
  • Delivery company Urby wants to expand its range of electric vehicles with larger trucks;
  • A handbook of best practice for European local authorities will soon be available online on a digital platform.
