European H2GLOBAL project: 2 missions to France and Portugal to promote exports by European companies in the H2 sector

The aim of the H2GLOBAL project, in which Capenergies is a stakeholder, is to promote the export development of European SMEs in the low-carbon hydrogen sector by organising missions to each of the partner countries.

On 9 and 10 May 2022, the H2 ecosystem in the South of France was the focus of a mission organised with the support of risingSUD and its German partner Zenit GmbH via the EEN Network. The European delegation, made up of companies from Italy, Portugal, Spain and Germany, took stock of the region's dynamism, visiting 2 emblematic sites:

- The fuel cell production site atHelion Hydrogen Power,

Jupiter 1000France's first power-to-gas demonstrator, using two fuel cell technologies, piloted by GRT gaz and located in Fos-sur-Mer.

BtoB meetings continued between European companies and clusters, as well as the regional companies present, with a total of 50 companies taking part.e of individual meetings held.

Then, on 21 and 22 June 2022, the H2GLOBAL project partners organised a new mission to Lisbon, Portugal, led by the Portuguese competitiveness and energy technologies cluster, EnergyIN.

Several Italian and Portuguese companies and 2 members of the Capenergies cluster (CMR Group and MGH-Energy) have discovered 2 futurehydrogen carbon-free :

  • The project GreenH2Atlantic which aims to produce carbon-free hydrogen from renewable energy using a 100 MW alkaline electrolyser. Scheduled to come on stream at the end of 2025, the new plant will be located in EDP's coal-fired power station, which is currently being dismantled. It will contribute to the decarbonisation of industries such as the Petrogal refinery, and to greening the existing natural gas network operated by REN through the injection of renewable hydrogen.

  • The Galp refinery, the largest producer and user of hydrogen in Portugal, producing around 120,000 tonnes of hydrogen every year.

Galp is also involved in the launch of Portugal's first hydrogen filling station, to power a fleet of buses. In the longer term, Galp is evaluating other large-scale projects, including partnerships linked to the production of green hydrogen from renewable energies and its association with the decarbonisation of industrial processes and mobility, or for injection into natural gas networks.

The next project mission will take place in Spain in September 2022, followed by Poland on 4 and 5 October and Italy on 10 and 11 November.
