TOOLS AND METHODS FOR OPTIMISING METAL INGOT CASTING PROCESSES
One of the challenges facing steelmakers is the manufacture of parts with very uniform properties (mechanical characteristics and properties of use in service). Reducing costs and lead times is also an issue that needs to be taken into account if they are to remain competitive at global level. In this context, the SOFT DEFIS project aims to optimise the quality of steel ingots (structure, chemical homogeneity and compactness), using new casting simulation software and new inoculation techniques.
