MATHEMATICAL STUDY OF THE VLASOV-POISSON EQUATIONS WITH AN INTENSE MAGNETIC FIELD

The aim of the project is to develop mathematical simulation tools useful for the design and interpretation of tests relating to the fusion of tokamak plasmas using magnetic confinement.

The aim is to model the plasma of magnetic confinement fusion machines in 3 dimensions using a simplified approach based on homogenisation on two time scales: the fast time scale of cyclotron resonance and the observation time scale, which allows collisional effects to be taken into account. This simplified modelling will also be validated by comparison with numerical simulations without homogenisation.
