PIRUM AQUA SOLAR

AGRIVOLTAIC DEMONSTRATOR ON PEAR TREES WITH CONTROLLED IRRIGATION

The Pirum Aqua Solar project is a 4-year multi-stakeholder project based at the La Pugère experimental station (Mallemort). Its aim is to create an innovative agrivoltaics demonstrator combining pear cultivation, photovoltaic electricity production and intelligent irrigation.
The project is a response to the major challenges of energy and agricultural transition. The aim of the experiment is to study the shading effect of the photovoltaic panels on the pear crop and its role in mitigating the effects of climate change, improving agricultural production, reducing the rate of over-flowering and reducing the evapotranspiration and water requirements of the pear trees.
