PRODUCTION OF BIOCATALYSTS FOR BIOENERGY AND THE BIOECONOMY

Biocatalysts - enzymes that speed up chemical reactions in biological systems - represent a major challenge for the development of bioenergies and the circular bioeconomy, since some biocatalysts can be used to extract value from substrates that are difficult to break down, such as by-products from forestry, agriculture and the food industry.
The project aims to set up an experimental platform to identify, characterise and produce efficient enzymatic biocatalysts for the bioenergy and green chemistry industries.
